Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 8, 2026  ·  Last Updated: May 8, 2026

Tax Codex (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website taxcodex.co (the “Site”), a free legal reference resource presenting the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulations. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Site, how it is used, and your rights with respect to it.

1. Information We Collect

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our servers and analytics tools automatically collect: approximate geographic location (city or region level, derived from your IP address — not GPS or precise location), browser type and version, operating system, device type, the page or search engine that referred you to the Site, the pages you view, search queries you enter on the Site, and the time and duration of your visit.

Information you provide directly. If you contact us by email at hello@taxcodex.co, we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and use that information solely to respond.

Information collected by third-party services. We use Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense on the Site. These services place cookies on your device and collect data as described in Sections 4 and 5. Their use of data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Information we do not collect. We have no user accounts, login system, or payment processing. We do not collect your name, phone number, mailing address, or any registration information through your use of the Site. We do not collect Sensitive Personal Information as defined by the California Privacy Rights Act, including precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health information, biometric data, or financial account information.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

3. Cookies

The Site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device by your browser — for two purposes: analytics (Google Analytics 4) and advertising (Google AdSense and its partners). You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect Site functionality and the ads you see. For details on Google’s cookie practices, see policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects data about your visit through cookies. IP anonymization is enabled by default in Google Analytics 4, meaning your full IP address is not stored by Google.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

5. Google AdSense and Advertising

We display advertisements through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads on this site based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

6. Third-Party Links

The Site contains links to external sources, including the IRS website, the U.S. Code, and the Code of Federal Regulations. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those external sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

7. Data Retention

8. Data Security

The Site is served exclusively over HTTPS. We do not store user accounts, passwords, or payment information. We take reasonable technical measures to protect the limited information described in this Policy. No method of transmission over the Internet is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@taxcodex.co and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no industry-wide standard for responding to DNT signals, and the Site does not currently respond to DNT signals. We do recognize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request from California residents and other consumers in jurisdictions where GPC is required.

11. Business Transactions

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, financing, reorganization, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users of any change in ownership or use of personal information through a notice posted on the Site.

12. EU and UK Users — GDPR Rights

If you are located in the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@taxcodex.co. We will respond within one month, as required by GDPR. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority.

Legal bases for processing. We process data for analytics on the basis of legitimate interest, and for advertising on the basis of consent where required by applicable law or legitimate interest where consent is not required.

International data transfers. Data collected through Google Analytics and Google AdSense may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission for such transfers.

13. California Residents — CCPA/CPRA Rights

This section applies to California residents and supplements the rest of this Policy.
